"View Larger on Chockstone Photography":http://www.chockstonephotos.com/Australian-Print.asp?ID=966 Whites River Hut resides in the Munyang Corridor, almost at the Schlink Pass, deep within Kosciusko National Park. Originally constructed in 1935 it burnt down in 2010 but was restored to glory a year later. It was, as you see it here, during my visit in 2024 when I had the good fortune to capture it under a blazing colourful sunset. Popular with cross country skiers, the hut is actually quite well maintained and reasonably comfortable inside. You can access it out of Guthega, on foot or by bike in the warmer months. A little stream offers a nearby water source, making it great spot to camp. Starting at Guthega Power Station carpark it is about a 17km return journey, allowing for checking out Horse Camp Hut as well. It is a steep walk up, and a nice downhill all the back. For the more adventurous you can continue deeper into the park to Schlink Hut which adds another 3km, with the option, of course, of simply continuing further still.
