Australian Landscape Photography by Michael Boniwell. All images copyright. This is image is suitable for enormous prints. View Larger on Chockstone Photography Mount Macedon is both a lovely little forest town and a mountain that rises some 1000 metres not far from Melbourne. It's known for cooler weather, some beautiful gardens and extravagant homes, as well as being a popular rock climbing destination. Built in 1935 for those who died in the First World War, a 20m high Memorial Cross stands near the summit looking out over the countryside. This image was captured on a foggy day whilst exploring the mountain for photographic potential with my son. We stumbled out of the woods into this lovely scene and both started setting up tripods almost immediately. What a great find and a wonderful experience to have shared. Being that bit colder than the surrounding valleys the mountain is often shrouded in low cloud or dripping wet with rain which makes it the perfect target for woodland photography. There are a wealth of good tracks to follow, which are popular even in damp conditions. I can certainly recommend this location for a family day trip.
