Australian Landscape Photography by Michael Boniwell. All images copyright. This is a tack sharp 100 megapixel image, suitable for enormous enlargements. View Larger on Chockstone Photography “The Razorback” is a ridgeline that runs from Mt Hotham to Mt Feathertop in Victoria, Australia. It’s actually one of the easiest alpine hikes in summer (winter is another story) if approached from Hotham. The alternate is to start at ground level in Harrietville and forge steeply uphill for the better part of the morning before reaching the hut and eventually Feathertop summit. I have seen some crazy locals running the whole track with zero gear, but most people treat it as an overnight hike. Whilst it’s pretty tame in summer, winter can be difficult. People have been known to lose their way, plunge mistakenly off the razor back and find themselves in white-out conditions down some random gully not knowing which way is out. Granted it’s not exactly Everest, but never-the-less should be taken seriously.
