This film provides many examples of social constructs and issues involving women, problems they face in their pursuits of ambition, and systemic racism. It is a popular film with the perfect bright and yet unsettling movie theme song, sang by Diana Ross herself. It is both a movie to enjoy for its iconic imagery and a movie to spark debate about what not to accept in real life, along with the decision of whether or not to be satisfied with the movie's events and ending.
