View Larger on Chockstone Photography Kanangra-Boyd is the south-western continuation of the popular Blue Mountains National Park, not far from Sydney. It takes about 3 and a half hour drive to the start of the Plateau Walk track, which itself is easy enough I’d rate it family friendly, particularly in light of other activities in the area such as Jenolan Caves and camping at Boyd River. Apart from Kanangra Tops Plateau there are several other, more serious tracks to explore, including a three day trek north to Black Heath. Having spent a rainy weekend in the region with visibility reduced to almost zero the question of what to photograph under such conditions was answered when it occurred to me that the cave I was sheltering within was itself, quite beautiful. Believe it or not but a one point in its not too distant history the cave boasted a wooden dance floor. You’ll have to imagine that part, the best I could do was to place myself into the frame to give the image a sense of scale.
