ENJOY A DOUGHNUT OR TWO, OR THREE. Graphs, circles rotated around tangent lines, and wireframes. These annular doughnut shapes, o-rings, and solenoid forms are created by revolving a plane geometric shape around an axis external to it parallel to the shape's plane and not intersecting it, creating a hollow cylinder or pipe and making a circle. In 1D ordinary toruses, a line bends into a circle, giving the 1-torus. In 2D, a rectangle wraps to a usual torus, also called the 2-torus. In 3D, the cube wraps to form a 3-manifold, or 3-torus.
