This picture was taken in Jbeil, Lebanon less then a year after Lebanon War 2006 . During this war most of Lebanese shores were polluted. It will take about 3 years before it is safe to swim again in the sea. Quoted form american.edu "Sea Pollution: The most well-known and one of the most serious cases of the environmental damage caused by the Israel-Lebanon conflict is the massive oil spill that resulted from the Israeli bombing of the fuel tanks at the Jiyyeh power plant in Lebanon. It is estimated that between 10,000 and 35,000 metric tons of oil have spilled into the sea (“Oil Spill”). The spill affected an estimated 150 kilometers of Lebanese coastline, including beaches, ports and marinas.
