Misunderstood

Teenagers are often misunderstood, misjudged and mistaken. I wanted this image to explore and expose those prejudices. The teen is portrayed in black and white, his eyes shaded by the harsh spotlight, his hood pulled up in angry defiance of his surroundings. Against a backdrop of graffiti, decay and vandalism he looks like he doesn't belong, as if I pasted him there. And he looks guilty... but guilty of what exactly? The answers are not always so black and white. The truth is that he is an innocent bystander like you and I, a photographer, a filmmaker a documenter. In my original series of photographs, I see him as he really is, hood down and smiling because he has nothing to hide.
