Metallic Wind
This drawing is the expression of “speed” and “machine”. The inspiration is from the brutal wind of Chicago and the elegant architecture style - Art Deco.
Art Deco took its name, short for Art Decoratifs, from the International Exposition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Art held in Paris in 1925. In architecture, Art Deco was the successor to and reaction against Art Nouveau, a style which flourished in Europe between 1895 and 1900, and gradually replaced the neoclassical and Beaux-Art that were predominant in European and American architecture. From 1925 onwards , Art Deco was often inspired by a passion for new machines, such as airships, cars and ocean liners, and by 1930 this influence resulted in the style called Streamline Moderne.
