Red Roses
The red roses in my dad’s garden were something I documented because their colour had such a deep, velvety richness that it drew the eye immediately. When I recorded them, the blooms were fully open—layers of tightly curved petals forming a classic, cupped shape, each petal a saturated crimson that seemed almost luminous in the light. I noted how the glossy, dark green leaves made the red appear even more intense, and how the stems held the flowers with a kind of quiet strength. Adding them to my notes helped capture one of the garden’s most dramatic and unmistakably traditional summer blooms.
