Aztec Calendar
The Aztec scared calendar is an interconnected multi-calendar system for tracking years, months, days and rituals to the gods. The central obsidian tongue represents human sacrifice and the saltire-like cross surrounding the head represents the four-prior worlds that went through the cycles of birth, death and reincarnation. Jaguars, hurricanes, fire and flood destroyed these former worlds. The legend goes that the Fifth World (our world) will be destroyed by the shaking of the earth (earthquake), and the earth will not be recreated.
