This painting is an attempt to further refine what I was doing with White Shark I.
The composition and the relative positions of the shark and the figure were carefully considered. It’s all about our relationship not only to the shark (which, despite it’s aggressive pose, the museum renders impotent and safe) but also to the objects displayed in museums more generally.
There is a trend for museums to be interactive places; perhaps to keep the game-boy generation interested. I think museums should be places for contemplation, not interaction.
