View Larger on Chockstone Photography Streaky Bay resides on the Eyre Peninsula, a long way west of Port Augusta in South Australia. It is a good eight hours drive from Adelaide, plus breaks. Something of a commitment in terms of distance, but it makes up for that with some cool stuff in the form of abundant bird life, coastal scenery, rock formations and places to catch a bite to eat. You can also fish or swim right off the pier, and find walks or scenic drives not far out of town. During this particular photographic exploration of South Australia, we ran into some serious car trouble. The automatic transmission in our six year old Subaru Forester died resulting in the largest bill for vehicle repairs I have ever had put in front of me (over $8000 AUD) and an enforced stay in this peaceful little village. We shot at the jetty each sunset and sunrise, eventually coming away with a quite a selection of images from which to choose. This one was my favourite, capturing the crazy colourful storm clouds and even a lightning strike poetically landing just beyond the pier. We kept shooting well into dark, braving the thunder and rain, until finally making a run for it.
