Japanese lanterns (2 of 3)
During a recent trip to Japan I was enamoured by all the different shapes and textures within the environment. Rather than take photos that capture large-scale objects, I aimed to take photos that capture the beauty of patterns and colours.
These lanterns were hanging at the entrance to a event in a park in Kyoto. I assume that they represented sponsors. I love the "wall of lanterns" effect and thought it offered a logical progression from the first image in the series. Whereas the first image feels like a small country town, the last two images represent increasing modernisation.
