Viper - Vertical
Viper - Vertical is the vertical version of X2 (hence the title). The original work can be hung either horizontally or vertically, so I wanted to offer it both ways.
Viper is part of my Roller Coaster Series, based on rides from Six Flags Magic Mountain.
I painted it in 2010 after a trip to Six Flags, and I enjoyed the challenge of transposing a 3-dimensional object into a 2-dimensional design.
In counterpoint to the simple contrasting colors, the loop-de-loops and humps create a frenetic energy that mimicked the tumultuous time that was 2010, as America began to claw its way back from the Recession.
