As you might be able to see from the image, this location is in a dip, it is surrounded by high hills and is almost inaccessible by car, especially a car without snow tyres.
I initially tried to get to it over one of the hill roads, but after 15 attempts I was about to give up, I tried gain at a long run up, but I could never get past the mid point of the hill before I had to slid back down the hill backwards.
On the last attempt, I got about a further 10 feet up the road past the previous tyre spinning tracks I'd left behind. Stopped in frustration I muttered to myself that I had to find another route to the location before the mist lifted. With all the exertion the windows were fogging up quicker than the cold air from the car vents could clear them. I leant over to consult the charging iPhones GPS on the passenger seat to see which road in to the scene would be the flattest.
Almost at the same time, a darkened figure in the shape of an person rapped on the window of the car. Startled, I jumped and hit my head on the roof of the car. Thankfully I did not swear.
I gingerly wound down the fogged up window to be met with an elderly vicar in his pyjamas, who spoke with a very posh sounding accent and with the greeting of "How Do You Do?".
Still shaken, I stammered, "er very well, and you?'
He looked at me as if to say something else but stopped himself short to say, "may I be of assistance?".
With a little more composure, I explained I was trying to get to a particular location over the hill I was desperately trying to drive over to take some photographs of a tree and scene on the other side.
He looked at me, then looked at the road and multitude of skidded tyre marks I'd left and said, do you know your proverbs?
I looked blankly at him. With a withering stare he muttered "That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous, because this one is blocked by snow, if you had not noticed?". "go down the hill and take a right, then second right and ye shall find your salvation."
"Er, Ok, thank you?" I said.
I managed to reverse back down the hill with the slowly clearing windows from the slowly warming car and took the route he suggested. I found the roads to be flat and clear to the the tree. Perfect.
I spent the next 40 minutes taking as many photos as possible, this is one of them.
