Artwork thumbnail, Cubist Color Riot by McKay Edition
    Cubist Color Riot
This original abstract artwork is created with ink and watercolor, combining bold, expressive color with a loose, cubist-inspired structure. The composition is fragmented and layered, allowing shapes and forms to overlap and shift, creating movement and visual tension without following a rigid grid. While rooted in the spirit of Cubism, the piece remains fluid, intuitive, and contemporary. I used ink to define structure and contrast, then layered watercolor washes to bring depth, energy, and spontaneity to the surface. The bold color palette gives the artwork a strong presence, while the transparent qualities of watercolor keep it light and dynamic. Each area of the piece reveals a balance between control and experimentation. From a distance, the artwork feels modern and graphic; up close, the textures, lines, and color transitions become more expressive and organic. This piece works well as a statement print in modern interiors, creative studios, or spaces that embrace abstract design and artistic influence.
