    Unity
"Unity" Najma is a woman from Afghanistan who lived in Moria refugee camp on the island of Lesvos in Greece with her family. The background is drawn with pencil, and various shades of grey take over the entire painting other than a singular flower. The flower is multicoloured, held by 2 black and white hands both with wedding rings. All the paintings featured on this page are the work of refugees who are living or have lived inside the notorious Moria refugee camp on the island of Lesvos Greece. The artists come from a wide variety of countries including Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq,Sudan, South Sudan, Congo and many other countries, they have been forced to flee for their lives, fleeing conflict & persecution. They fled to the safety of Europe only to end up in one of the world most notorious and horrific camps....Camp Moria Their art tells their story! The Hope project is founded on the principles of dignity, compassion and safety for all. We aim to provide aid and support for people fleeing conflict or persecution arriving on the island of Lesvos. We strive to support refugees both arriving and staying here on Lesvos The needs and the situation are constantly changing, boats are arriving daily to the shores and the numbers of those refugees stuck on the island in poor and overcrowded conditions grow daily. The Hope Project Arts like all our projects is operated by the refugees themselves. The mission of the project is to focus on mental health and well being of refugees through various art projects There is always in danger of seeing these people as just refugees, this is only what they happened to be, we have always seen that they are a diverse group of people with incredible ideas and abilities. The arts projects goal is to provide a space for refugees and the local community to work together through music, theater, poetry, dance and art. The art works shown here are all painted by refugees that have passed through the island of Lesvos in Greece all proceeds from sales will go to The Hope Project Arts so that future artists have a place to work and express themselves All profits go to the Hope Project Arts Thank you for your support!
