Unfriendly Rivalry
With our move to Colombia, we are fortunate to have been able to attract new hummingbirds to our yard, primarily the rufous-tailed variety. We continue to call him (them) Tom Thumb because of their tiny size, no bigger than my thumb. They are a true delight as they zip across the yard at supersonic speed and visit our feeders and flowers. Often, there are more than one vying for the same feeder or flower, and vicious standoffs can take place as hummingbirds are very territorial. This digitally altered artwork is derived from a photograph taken Feb 5/21 in Andalucia, Valle del Cauca, Colombia, South America nestled in the Andes Mountains. Final processing done with Smart Photo Editor and Photoshop.
