USAF Backbone Jet
The Republic F-84 Thunderjet was one of the first jet fighters to serve with the United States Air Force after World War II. Designed in the late 1940s, this straight-wing jet gained recognition during the Korean War for its rugged reliability and ability to deliver bombs, rockets, and napalm with precision. Though initially plagued by developmental issues, the F-84 evolved into a capable fighter-bomber, playing a key role in early Cold War air power. With its distinctive silhouette and combat-proven record, the Thunderjet helped pave the way for the jet age in military aviation.
