    The Higher you Go
FROM THE 1996 YUCCA VALLEY VISITORS GUIDE. Many of you will find this hard to believe. Back before the internet, we used maps and guides when traveling to new areas. Many communities, like ours, would publish these Guides and distribute them around town to help visitors learn about what is available in the community. In our communities, Daigneault, Smith, and Associates published a variety of guides that were commonly distributed around the basin. In fact, there was a guide published for Twentynine Palms, Morongo Valley, and Landers. And a magazine, Hi Desert Magazine, that was distributed basin wide. This slogan was used for a couple of years to promote Yucca Valley. Sitting at about 3,400 feet above sea level, Yucca Valley is considered much cooler than Palm Springs. For us locals, cooler means both temperature and attitude!
