Shadow on the Bay
In this one, I painted this aerial scene around the remarkable shadow cast by the Golden Gate Bridge across the water. I laid down the bay in broad blue-green and sandy washes, then strengthened the shadow with a cool transparent blue rather than using an opaque dark. The bridge itself was built gradually in rust and red-brown, with the hills kept soft behind it.
