Sailing Beneath
I wanted the bridge to stretch almost like a ceiling across this composition, with the open bay and San Francisco skyline unfolding beneath it. I laid in the water with broad, transparent blue and turquoise washes, allowing the pigment to gather naturally near the lower edge. The sailboats were added sparingly, using small reserved shapes of white paper.
