Rejection Is Redirection
Rejection Is Redirection is a piece that I have been thinking about for quite some time. The challenge wasn't the message—it was finding the right way to represent it visually. Eventually, the idea naturally formed through familiar UK road signs.
Although the signs do not literally state "Rejection" and "Redirection," their meanings are easy to interpret. The upper sign is the familiar No Entry sign, which can symbolise rejection—a route that is closed, unavailable, or simply not meant for us.
Beneath it is the UK Diversion sign, guiding drivers towards an alternative route when the original path cannot be taken.
Over time, and through my own experiences, I have spent a great deal of time reflecting on both my life and life in general. I have come to believe that our lives are already planned out on a spiritual level, and that we simply live the path that has been laid before us.
With that perspective, I have also come to see that rejection is often far more positive than it first appears. In the moment, rejection can be painful, confusing, disappointing, and difficult to accept. Yet, after weeks, months, or even years have passed, we often look back and realise that what felt like a setback was actually guiding us towards something better. The rejection itself, may not have changed, but our understanding of it has.
Looking back at my own life, I am genuinely thankful for many of the redirections I have experienced. They have led me away from paths that, in hindsight, would not have been right for me. They have protected me from situations where I may have lacked mental, emotional, or even physical freedom. Watching where some other paths have led, has reinforced my belief that not every closed door is a loss.
Sometimes a No Entry sign is not there to stop us. It is there to protect us and direct us towards the road we were always meant to travel.
