Ocotillo
Desert plants have a kind of stubborn elegance I absolutely love, and an ocotillo in flower is especially dramatic. I built the plant from a loose bundle of deep green vertical strokes, then touched the tips with rusty scarlet and orange. The desert around it was kept broad and dusty in ochres, warm grays, and faded greens so the flowering branches could stand proudly against the distant hills.
