In the Golden Center
This close-up was all about the pleasure of noticing something small. I painted the flower with diluted lemon, cream, and warm gold, leaving the outer petals almost weightless against the paper. The bee was developed with deeper browns, blue-gray wings, and a few carefully placed highlights, while the curling stamens were added last with a very fine brush.
