Buddleja
The buddleja in my dad’s garden was something I documented because its flower spikes seemed to draw butterflies the moment they began to colour. When I recorded it, the long, tapering clusters were already forming—tiny tubular florets packed tightly together, shifting from pale green at the base to a soft lilac‑purple at the tips as they opened. I noted how the grey‑green leaves were slightly rough to the touch, arranged opposite each other along the stems, giving the whole shrub a loose, arching shape. Adding it to my notes helped capture one of the garden’s most generous and wildlife‑friendly summer plants.
