Blue Botanical Tides
I painted this abstract floral study based on my fascination with the hidden architecture inside petals and leaves. I flooded the paper with turquoise, indigo, mint, and lavender, encouraging the colors to feather naturally into one another. Once the washes dried, I traced the thorny vein-like edges with a fine brush, creating something that feels halfway between a flower, a coastline, and an underwater current.
