Between the Hills
For this residential street, I was interested in the long, gentle bend of the roadway and the way the Victorian houses seem to settle into the slope. I began with a pale graphite drawing, then washed the pavement in warm gray and lavender before adding the trees in loosely mingled greens. The lone figure crossing the street gives the scene its quiet human center.
