Bay Bridge Rush Hour
Oh, we all know this feeling!
As it turned out, this became one of my more complicated pieces, trying to mi detail and depth while also juggling with distance to get the perspectives to compliment the scene. The roadway began as a muted violet-gray wash, after which I added dozens of small vehicles in subdued reds, whites, greens, and blues. I kept the cars irregular so they would feel like actual traffic rather than a pattern. The surrounding structure was painted in transparent charcoal and warm rust.
