Bay Bridge Gateway
Another aerial study, only this time with a wider arc including both the bridge and downtown. The bridge deck and cables were drawn first to establish the perspective, then I washed the bay in pale green, blue, and touches of warm gold. The skyline was built from compact blocks of rose, gray, cream, and muted blue, with the distant hills left almost translucent. I wanted the finished piece to capture that unmistakable feeling of approaching San Francisco from across the bay, when the entire city appears to gather itself behind the bridge.
