The wooded banks exist mainly of cut tree trunks, piled up to form a wall along the cycling path... the spaces in between are filled with earth, fallen leaves and smaller branches and form a safe hiding place for insects, birds and little animals - and all through the year one can find a variety of herbs and fungi growing on them. This photo: "Turkey Tail" fungi (Lat. Trametes versicolor - Dutch: Elfenbankjes (Fairy Benches) - Wikipedia ) - I first thought I didn't succeed to photograph the full grown Turkey Tails, but a further exploration of my folder of the day proofed me wrong...
