The source images for this were shot in Canon Raw Mode using: nbsp nbsp Camera: EOS 5d Mk ii nbsp nbsp Lens: Zenitar 16mm Fisheye f/2.8 M42 manual-focus via an EOS adapter. nbsp nbsp Bracketed Exposures: f/16, at 1/50th, 1/200th and 1/800th at ISO 200 This image is effectively a crop from a full 360° panorama The slogan across the old barracks-building on Ebrington Square, Derry saying: "Let it be LegenDerry" is anticipating 2013 when Derry will be the first city to spend a year being designated "UK City of Culture". Ebrington Square was formerly the parade ground of Ebrington Army Barracks. Under the guidance of Ilex (the local Urban Regeneration Company) the parade ground has been transformed into a public open space. Gradually the buildings around it are being renovated and finding new uses. This summer (2012) the square is playing host to the Cow Parade of painted cows. Each of the cows in the parade was painted by a different artist. Each artist was paired with a community group and worked with them to identify a theme. The cow in this panorama - with the little girl climbing on it - was created by St Columb's Cathedral Youth Club. Its theme is "Shared History". They painted it under the guidance of local artist Bridget Murray. She will be having an exhibition of her paintings at the Waterside Theatre in the Autumn. The Cow Parade is said to be the largest participative art project in the world. Having been seen by 300m people world wide it certainly has a claim to that title! In fact there are many cow parades. The organisers provide plain white fiberglass cows - mostly in three characteristic stances - and artists and community groups in a local area come together to decorate their cow in a way that highlights a locally relevant theme. There are twelve, or more of these cows in Ebrington Square and a few others scattered around Derry. The source images (see below) were stitched and blended together using Hugin, which in turn invoked Nona, Enblend and Enfuse to combine the images and achieve the HDR effect. This image is half the width of the full panorama - 180° wide - and not quite the full height - in order to give us a 7x5 aspect ratio. It was created from the equi-rectangular panorama (by the program Hugin) using the Panini projection.
