View Larger on Chockstone Photography Gunyah Beach Sand Dunes reside inside Coffin Bay National Park. Whilst they are quite close to the little seaside town of Coffin Bay, you’ll need a four wheel drive and some serious off road experience to really explore the dunes. I wasn’t willing to tempt fate myself nor did I want sand crystals, which have a tendency to get into everything, to invade my vehicle’s various nooks and crannies. Parking close to the dunes I hoofed it instead, spending the afternoon picking out a composition and then awaiting the sunset. By far the biggest issue was wind, and more specifically windblown sand. Within seconds of opening my camera bag the stuff was everywhere. With my big umbrella up and my whole weight braced against it, I was just able to keep the gale at bay. For anyone wanting to really fill a wall I’ve an alternative version of this scene covering a much wider aspect ratio which shows more of the dunes to the left and right.
