Greek Mythology: Procne, Philomela chased by Tereus
In the truly terrifying and horrific story from Ovid in Metamorphoses, Procne's husband attacked her younger sister Philomela before removing her tongue and hiding her. Procne finds her sister at a loom where she weaves her tale of woe, the only form of communication at her disposal.
Once the sisters take revenge on Tereus, he chases them. In the process, each are turned into a nightingale, a swallow and a hoopoe.
