Only a short drive from Blackheath in the ever popular Blue Mountains west of Sydney lies The Grotto of Centennial Glen. This very picturesque little waterfall is nestled at the base of a narrow slot canyon, with the stream flowing out passed a lovely inviting pool that people do occasionally use for swimming. The walk is only about 20 minutes, but quite steep.
The area also offers stunning views of the Megalong Valley via the Walls Ledge Loop Track, or options to descend deeper alongside the Centennial Glen creek. There is plenty here to occupy visitors not afraid of steep descents and subsequent ascents, on well-marked walking tracks, with stairs and handrails.
Centennial Glen and Porters Pass tends to be popular with rock climbers, so the little car park fills up quickly, particularly on weekends. Note, that fully entering the grotto as pictured requires either getting very wet (depending on water levels), or a small amount of rock scrambling over slippery and precious terrain, that might lead to a fall. Please be cautious, or simply enjoy the tranquillity from safety instead.
