View Larger on Chockstone Photography The Twelve Apostles are a set of crumbling rock formations rising out of the sea on the West Coast of Victoria, Australia. They represent a very popular tourist destination along “The Great Ocean Road”. I had a great deal of fun shooting this scene. Myself and another photographer had braved the incoming tide to access the base of the cliffs, potentially cutting ourselves off from retreat. As the waves came in and the sun rose so did our anxiety about the situation, but we couldn’t help laughing whenever one of us was swamped by the surf. Perched on a rock, closer to the action I had to keep cleaning off my lens and reshooting again and again until I had the best of the light captured. We made break for it afterwards, running from rock to rock between incoming waves, our feet wet. A fun morning, and hopefully a nice image too.
