View Larger on Chockstone Photography Crystal Brook Falls plunges 200 metres from the top of the Gorge near the famous old Mount Buffalo Chalet. The best view of the falls, is from a lookout on the Gorge Heritage walking track which also offers spectacular scenes of the Ovens Valley and ranges beyond. The walk is only half a kilometre so access is super easy, though a little steep. In winter be careful of snow and ice on the trail (and likewise on the road in). It is pretty easy to take a tumble on an iced over step. On this photography trip the main Gorge lookout was completely covered in low cloud, but descending just a little to the falls allowed us to capture wonderful dawn light penetrating the misty valley below.
