View Larger on Chockstone Photography The much loved country town of Bright is nestled between mountains like Mt Hotham and Mt Buffalo that are popular during the ski season. However one of best times to visit is during autumn when their fall foliage is looking gorgeous. It's worth the drive just to take in the leafy colours, walk along the river, let your kids play, find a nice lunch spot and basically breath in some peace. It's one of those rare places that recharges the soul and yet is very accessible and family friendly. I can probably only think of a couple of other towns in the state that have the same de-stress affect. If you base yourself in Bright long enough, certainly take the time to explore Mt Buffalo, which is super in all seasons. There's plenty of my work on this site that shows it off. For this photograph, depicting a lovely little picnic shelter surrounded by autumn hues, I made sure I was there at sunrise, just after a heavy rain, so that the leaves would be wet and glistening, as well back lit by the warm low angle sun. A light fog also helped to diffuse the background a little and add sense of mystery. After a cold night sleeping in the car it was a real treat to capture this scene, and enjoy such a special moment filled with calm and hope.
