View Larger on Chockstone Photography Boars Head Rock is easily accessible from Cahill's lookout along the Blue Mountain's famous Cliff Drive. It makes a nice spot to watch the sun go down in relative peace whilst taking in panoramic views across the Megalong Valley, towards Narrow Neck and beyond. Not that far, possibly walking distance, from the over-loved Echo Point and the Three Sisters in Katoomba, the great thing about this vantage point is that there are far less people, to the point that you can have the place to yourself when the weather turns inclement. Positioned on the cliff edge (safely), our boy and I waited patiently hoping for some interesting light. This time we were not to be disappointed. A massive rain storm which had been building up all day decided to overshadow out scene right on sunset. The velvety blues in the sky were pierced by violent golden light and even lightning strikes. It was incredibly exciting to witness. Try as I might I was unable to capture a strike despite hundreds of frames, but at least that gave me lots to choose from with this one containing the great mood and drama. Before long the rain caught us and we were hammered as nature unleashed a drenching along with driving winds. I don't think we've ever packed up so quickly!
