Rushing Home
I wanted this swallow to appear as though it might fly straight beyond the edge of the paper. I drew the sweeping wings with long, confident lines, then softened them with gray-brown and blue washes. The warm throat and forked tail provide just enough detail, while the loosely painted green background creates the sensation of speed.
