Empty Riders
The bare bones ride implacable as fate, guided by forces beyond our understanding. There is a terrible beauty in these figures poised between life and death, animate yet unliving. Their steeds advance with purpose yet without purpose, following an unknowable command with hollow obedience. You stand before this scene as one might stand before a mirror that reveals a truth too strange to comprehend. Wisdom seems to glimmer within these sightless sockets, a wisdom earned only through decay. Energy courses through joint and tendon though no blood remains, an energy born of stillness and absence. The light falls upon curves and angles worn smooth by time, revealing a form of grace that man in his brevity can only glimpse. They offer no comfort, for their journey is eternal and owns no companion. They teach that release lies in surrender, not struggle, in dissolving into the vastness without name or shape that we glimpse only with our soul's eye.
