Split
The harbour area of the Croation city of Split. Split is one of the oldest cities in the area, and is traditionally considered to be just over 1,700 years old, although recent discoveries would seem to indicate that it may be several hundred years older. Behind the modern promenade is the Diocletian's Palace built by the Roman Emperor Diocletian at the turn of the fourth century AD.
