Red Ikat Pattern
Ikat (pronounced ee-kaht) is a textile art created by a resist-dyeing technique applied to the yarns before they are woven into fabric, as opposed to many other resist dyeing methods where the dye is applied to the cloth after being woven. This creates a jagged or “blurred” effect to the pattern. The technique is found all over the world, but most prevalent in Indonesia, India and Japan.
