Iowa Prairie Grasses
9X15 Acrylic on #140 Strathmore: I grew up in the Prairie Grasses in Northern Iowa, now sadly mostly gone. As a kid I used to ride my horse along Jack Creek North of Emmetsburg, Iowa and just wonder at all the beauty with the clouds streaming over the unplowed meadows and the Red Wing Black Bird and Meadow Lark singing against the insistent call of the katydids. I was so inspired by David Murpheys Marram Inlet Photo that I asked permission to use his fantastic composition from the downunder:
