Grounded
Seen rotting under the skies it once flew is Cessna 500 Citation-I G-BWFL, originally built in 1975 as an executive transport for the FedMart corporation of San Diego, California; a convenience store chain which once rivalled the likes of Walmart for market influence. The aircraft was sold by FedMart shortly before the company went bankrupt in 1982, being delivered the previous year to the Hesston Corporation of Hesston, Kansas. In 1986 it was sold to the Larson Pardi Aviation Inc as a business jet for hire before eventually taking up residence in Europe with the Euralair-Ligier Jet Air company of France in 1995. A year later, it crossed the channel and moved into the fleet of UK-based private jet rental company Eurojet Aviation Ltd. According to friends at Tatenhill, the Citation frequented this airfield for storage and maintenance when it was surplus to requirement; a cheaper alternative than paying ground charges at larger business airports like Biggin Hill. However, it was while at Tatenhill for engine repairs in 2014 that Eurojet Aviation Ltd went bankrupt and the Citation was left without both a home or a company. With no one wanting to claim such an old business jet, it was simply towed over to its corner of the field and left to nature.
