Griffith Observatory
I love the way Griffith Observatory seems both grand and slightly improbable up there in the dry Los Angeles hills. I kept the building crisp with pale blue-gray shadows and careful pencil lines, then surrounded it with much looser washes of dusty green, brown, and ochre. The hills behind were deliberately softened so the white architecture and its wonderful dark dome remain the unmistakable centerpiece.
