Golden Gate in Open Water
For this one, I wanted the Golden Gate Bridge to feel grand without becoming heavy or overly formal. I laid down the sky and bay in broad, transparent washes, leaving generous areas of white paper to preserve the brightness of the scene. The bridge was drawn carefully but painted with softened reds and rust tones so it would sit naturally within the pale coastal atmosphere. The small boats provide movement and scale, particularly the one cutting through the foreground.
