From the Freeway
Los Angeles is full of views where streets, ramps, towers, palm trees, and concrete seem to stack themselves on top of one another. I began this painting with the roadway curves because they carry the eye through the composition, then gradually built the buildings in diluted grays, brick reds, and warm sunlit washes. I kept the distant towers intentionally soft so they feel suspended in that familiar Southern California haze.
