Division
Cell division allows multicellular organisms to replace worn-out cells. Great maintenance ability. Unfortunately in humans that process stops on average after 52 divisions, phenomenon known as the Hayflick limit. Protective bits of DNA, telomeres, on the end of a chromosome required for replication, shorten with each copy and eventually disappear. Cancer cells, on the other hand, do not seem to degrade in this way. Too bad.
